MIOS is a research group at the Department of
Communication Studies, Faculty of Political and Social Sciences.
The research activities of MIOS can be
categorised into two research strands:
-
Individuals’
use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and other media, and
the related risks and opportunities. At the centre of the first research strand
are studies on young people’s uses of the internet, mobile phones and digital
games.
-
Organisations’
(e.g. companies, social profit organisations and governments) strategic
communication through ICT and other media. This includes research on
(e-)marketing communication and health communication.
The
research activities include policy oriented and fundamental research
projects, funded by governmental and scientific agencies. The research
group MIOS is also part of several international networks on youngsters
and ICT, such as the COST IS0801 action on cyberbullying.
