2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes)
- knowledge of the main applivation areas and instruments of HRM
- understanding the impact of the HR Practices on performance of organisations
- knowledge of the legal rules and the instuitutional context for HRM
- knowledge of the social dialogue in Belgium
knowledge of some recent ( international) research concerning HRM
- development of a critical attitude towards 'new' developments in this discipline


3. Course content
In this course the following topics will be treated:
- a short overview of the history of personnel management in Belgium
- definitions and connotations of HRM
- competency management
- recruitment and selection
- development activities
- appraisal and reward systems
- organisational design
- communication management
- the professionalisation of the HR-function
