2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes)

enable students to critically analyse and understand the culture of radio and television




3. Course content

The course provides a thorough analysis of evolutions in radio and television culture. On the one hand it looks at theoretical reflections regarding central concpets, processes and aspects such as genre, format, programming strategies, representation with an eye for both historical and international perspectives next to local and contemporary elements. Enerzijds  On the other hand there are a number of cases being analysed that can be seen to be represntative of relevant discussion within the field (e.g. contemporary representation of collective identities in television culture, the evolution of radio styles following changes in technology.... ). This is embedded in wider social and cultural trends
