In September 2008 the fourth edition of our yearly UCSIA Summer School on religion, culture and society took place. Young scholars and PhD students got the opportunity to attend lectures of established researchers and to present their own work. This year's lecturers were Robert Hefner, John Hutchinson, Tariq Modood and Chris Welzel.
With this summer school UCSIA wants to continue the academic reflection it started in 2003 with its summer seminars on inter-religious and intercultural dialogue and on faith-based radicalism. It is evident that religion, culture and society are strongly interwoven and are crucial for understanding the contemporary world. This annual summer school wants to learn and reflect on this interconnection.
