D. van West

Dirk van West (°1973) studied medicine at the University of Antwerp, from which he graduated in 1998 as a medical doctor. He then started as a trainee in psychiatry.

From October 2001-2004 he worked on a Ph.D. program at the Collaborative Antwerp Psychiatric Research Institute and the Molecular Genetics Department. His research topic is: 'HPA-axis in children with ADHD and Anxiety Disorders: functional and genetic studies'.

He is currently working as a chief child psychiatrist at the Disruptive Behaviour Disorder Unit of the University Centre of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Antwerp.
His research interests in general are psychoneuro-endocrinology, psycho-immunology and molecular genetics. His clinical interests are developmental and disruptive behaviour disorders.
