Gracienne Lauwers


Prof. Gracienne Lauwers (Ph.D.) earned her master’s degree in Slavonic studies and her master’s degree in law from the KULeuven (Belgium) and her Ph.D. from the Law Faculty at the Tilburg University (Netherlands). She completed a six year stay in the Russian Federation during which she was responsible for academic programmes with Russian institutions. 

She is member of the board of the European Association for Education Law and Policy and combines it with teaching the courses 'European and comparative education law and policy', 'Education law', 'Internationalisation of education and training’, 'Judicial protection in the European Union', 'European administrative law'.

She is Vice Dean and professor 'gewoon hoogleraar' at the Vytautas Magnus University (Faculty of Law), and lectures at the Free University of Brussels (Faculty of Law), the University of Vilnius (Faculty of Law), the University of Trento (Faculty of Law), the National Research University Higher School of Economics (Russia), and Tirana Business University (Albania).  She was responsible from 2005 till 2015 for the introduction and development of '2043OIWORE education law' and '2044OIWIOO internationalisation of education and training' at the University of Antwerp (Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Educational Sciences) and has written numerous articles on education law.

She serves as grantholder - coordinator of the 2015-2019 ERASMUS + Application  (573540-EPP-1-2016-1-BE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP/ grant:  943.663,00 euro)   "Introducing Modules on Law and Rights in Programmes of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences",  approved by the Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission.
