The Beijing Forestry University (BFU) is a top institution for higher education specialized in forestry and ecological environment, and the university is under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education of China. Founded in 1952, BFU has developed itself from a forestry college into a multi-disciplinary national key university, with forestry, biology and forestry engineering as its leading disciplines, and with an extensive coverage of courses in sciences, engineering, management, economics, liberal arts, law, and philosophy.
The university currently provides 52 undergraduate subjects, and it enjoys 13 undergraduate schools, 73 graduate disciplines and 35 doctoral disciplines. From language learners to post doctors, BFU also welcome international students in all of its specialties. By the year 2008, there have been 1,530 international students enrolled in this university, from such countries as Korea, Japan, United States, British, Thailand, Indonesia, Austria, Italy, Finland, France, Turkey, Vietnam, Mongolia, etc.
Since 2007, BFU is entitled to admit students of Chinese Government Scholarship, and is also listed as the “Recipient University of Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship”.
On campus can be found a clinic, a post-office, convenience stores, and a laundry. There are also various canteens offering Chinese food, fast food and Islamic food, and sports facilities for basketball, volleyball, and football.
