Computers are freely available on campus for individual study, word processing, CD-ROM and Internet use. 'E-learning' is becoming more and more significant within the UA. This implies that the lectures, practicals and seminars only account for part of a class. The other part is offered through the electronic learning environment (Blackboard) in the form of announcements, assignments, tests, exercises, group work, question time via forum (panel discussion). Some professors use Blackboard for group mailings and list course materials that are difficult to find elsewhere. Always check Blackboard in order to receive course-related-information.
Besides Blackboard, you will get access to the Selfservice module for students of the student administration system of the university SisA. You can get access to SisA using https://sisastudent.ua.ac.be/ (active on July 16, 2011). You can use SisA to administer your personal data, register for courses and get information about the payment of your registration fee (if applicable). More information about SisA can be found on this website (http://www.ua.ac.be/sisastudent - Dutch only at this time) or in this folder (in preparation).
Last but not least, eacht student will receive his/her personal UA student e-mail address for use during their stay in Antwerp. Your mailbox can be reached through the Webmail address https://mail.ua.ac.be/ or through Blackboard. Always check your UA mailbox because this is the way that the university will communicate with his/her students. The UA e-mail address can be linked to your personal e-mail address.
Upon arrival, students need to register with the Registration Office on campus in order to obtain a username and login, both of which are essential to access the computers, Blackboard, SisA and Webmail.

Students of the UA can use the libraries at the four university campuses. Moreover, they can access all electronic information from the reading rooms and even from off-campus. A general introduction tour is held during the Orientation Day at the beginning of each semester. In addition, some departments organise more specific introductory sessions for their exchange students. The library maintains an English-language website where you can find all information about the databases, opening hours, user registration, contact persons and how to reach the libraries.

A large variety of sports can be played at the university and other places in the city, which includes both individual and team sports, as well as student competitions. Three out of four UA campuses have a sports centre and indoor and/or outdoor tennis courts. Students need to buy a sports card at the Sports Office or at the Office for Student Affairs.
