What does your diploma look like?
In the resolution of December 2, 1992 and of June 11, 2004, the Flemish government has clearly outlined what the KaLi diplomas and the BaMa diplomas resp. should look like. These resolutions follow the international trend to achieve more uniformity in diplomas, rendering them comparable.
The diploma file consists of the following parts:
  • The actual diploma is limited in contents and mentions the obtained degree and the mention, next to the name, birth place and date of the holder. For the diplomas of licentiate and of advanced academic training the right to use the titel of master is added. The diploma is signed by the rector.
  • The detailed study information is given on the diploma supplement. The supplement mentions a.o. all courses and their credits. For BaMa-programmes, detailed study results and the language of instruction are mentioned. A supplement can consist of more than one page. Detailed study results of KaLi-programmes can be obtained from the faculty student administration. The diploma supplement is signed by the chairman and the secretary of the examination board.
  • An explanatory page gives information about the higher education system in Flanders.

As of 2008-2009 the diploma file (including the diploma supplement) is issued in a widely spoken European language (i.e. bilingual: Dutch ànd English) and it is given automatically and free of charge to every student upon graduation.
