Students are officially accepted by the University of Antwerp once they have been given the status of exchange student by their home university and after approval of their (preliminary) study programme by the appropriate department/faculty at the University of Antwerp.

Therefore, students are requested to formulate an accurate study programme . Please consult the online course catalogue. If you need more details please contact the international academic coordinator at the appropriate department/faculty for more information regarding your course selection . Students may freely choose courses in faculties other than their own, although limited to 2 courses per faculty and under condition of approval. Overlapping time tables can limit this choice as well.

Students have to send in the Learning Agreement and the Transcript of Records issued by the home university, together with the application. The Learning Agreement contains the courses the exchange student is planning to take and the ECTS credits allocated to these courses. It is drawn up for one semester or a full academic year.  It has to be signed by the student, the home and host institution before the exchange period starts. It is designed to guarantee admission/acceptance at the host institution and full recognition of the courses listed at the home institution. When upon arrrival at the host university changes in the study programme occur, the Learning Agreement will be updated accordingly.

All students will receive an acceptance letter from the International Relations Office once their (preliminary) programme at the University of Antwerp is approved.
