All students who will be staying in Antwerp for longer than 3 months must register at the municipality/department of foreigners within 8 working days after arrival in order to obtain a residence permit.

Students can register through the International Relations Office upon arrival in Antwerp. The IRO passes on the registration files to the department of foreigners and will guide the students through the different steps of the registration process. Usually t he residence card is available within 8 weeks.

Students have to submit the following documents to the IRO:

·         3 copies of the ID card or national passport (identity sheet + photo + visa + entrance stamp + place and date of issue + date of expiry)

·         2 copies of the certificate of registration delivered by the host institution

·         1 copy of the rental agreement

·         5 passport pictures

Important: picture size: 3,5 cm x 4,5 cm – white background; other sizes or photocopies are not accepted and delay the process!
