At the University of Antwerp, PhD students will be supervised by Prof. Alexia Herwig with possible co-supervision by other professors. These include Prof. Koen De Feyter, Prof. Patricia Popelier, Prof. Gert Straetmans, Prof. Annemarie Van den Bossche, Prof. Wouter Vandenhole, Prof. Hendrik Vanhees of the Faculty of Law or Prof. George Pavlakos of the Centre for Law and Cosmopolitan Values and other professors, depending on the research topic. Prof. Herwig’s multidisciplinaty research interests focus on international economic law and domestic regulation, including risk regulation, WTO law and its constitutionalisation and, theories of justice and democracy in their application to globalisation. Prof. De Feyter’s broad research focus is on human rights and development. The multidisciplinary research interests of Prof. Pavlakos mainly concern action theory, metaethics, the normativity of law, law and practical reasoning and international political philosophy. Prof. Popelier’s extensive research interests in constitutional law include the role of judicial review, better regulation and constitutional theory. Prof. Straetmans is an expert in EU law, with special emphasis on consumer protection law. Prof. van den Bossche researches extensively in EU law and competition law. Prof. Vandenhole’s recognised expertise extends to children's rights, human rights, in particular economic, social and cultural rights, and the relationship between human rights law and development. Prof. Vanhees’ broad research focus is on intellectual property law.
 
At the University of Bern, Prof. Thomas Cottier, Prof. Marion Panizzon or Prof. Matthias Oesch will supervise doctoral research as second supervisors. Professor Thomas Cottier researches widely in WTO law with emphasis on the constitutionalisation of WTO law, services trade, intellectual property protection and climate change. Professor Marion Panizzon did extensive research in international trade law and is focusing on the international law of migration. Professor Matthias Oesch has a broad background of international trade and Swiss administrative and constitutional law.
