Following her graduation from the Antwerp University Faculty of Law in 1976,, she worked as jurist at the Compagnie Maritime Belge, and later as an assistent in International Law at the Antwerp University, Faculty of law.
She participated in the EU- Grotius I project on " Aequitas: Access to Justice across Language and Culture in the EU", the Grotius II "Aequalitas- Equal Access to Justice across Language and Culture in the EU" and the EU-AGIS project "Instruments for Lifting Language Barriers in Intercultural Legal Proceedings". She is involved in the Court Interpreting pilot projects in Antwerp and Belgium. She was the author of the first study on ‘Belgian Law and Court Interpreters and Translators", nominated by the King Baudouin Fondation in 1998. A project together with Annick Rosiers en Paul Van Santvliet, magistrates in the Court of First Instance Antwerp, in quality and skills in legal interpreting, was nominated by the King Boudouin Fondation in 2000.
