The purpose of this course is to introduce the students into a number of modelling and forecasting techniques which are relevant for the research in the field of transport and maritime management and economics. The students should understand the techniques and be able to apply them to specific problems.
The course consists of two parts. The first part is focussed on general methodology, whereas the second part contains some specific topics in transport modelling. The topics that are treated are mainly in the field of freight transport, but also some more general methods are considered.
Students will get a reading list on these topics which will be discussed on a regular base. There will also be introductions in some of the software needed to apply some of the modelling and forecasting techniques. Prerequisites: Students should have a basic knowledge of statistics, mathematics and economics.
