Main topics The BBI research group performs research and executes projects related to processes of information management and information services, with special emphasis on the role of libraries. The topics can be approached both from a historical and a future-oriented perspective.
The three main domains of the research team are:

1. Libraries and documentary information services

  • Delsaerdt Pierre
    • Organise and support meetings of people active in the domains of book history, reading and the book industry.
      Technique: - Research in libraries and archives, concentrating on the production, distribution and consumption of the (printed) book
      - Research on the reading culture today and in the past
      - Typographical research, e.g. into the relations between book design and the reading public, between design and the retrieval of information...)
      Users: - Libraries, especially libraries with special (heritage) collections
      - The contemporary book industry
      - Lecturers, researchers and students in the fields of (art)history, literature, library and information science, communications science and sociology
      - Authorities that bear responsibilities in the field of cultural heritage preservation, the promotion of reading and the support of the book industry
