2. Eindcompetenties (eindtermen)
The course aims at providing knowledge of
a) the relevance of law to development;
b) how international law organises (or fails to organise) a shared responsibility within the international community for development.
3. Inhoud
The course will look at:
- the evolution of the Law and Development school of thought;
- the international definition of development;
- dificulties of legal systems in developing countries;
- donor policies geared towards promoting the rule of law, democracy and human rights;
- the UN development system;
- the role and responsibility of private actors, such as companies and non-governmental organisations, in international development.
