1. Aanvangscompetenties (begintermen) *Algemene competenties No specific ICT knowledge is required.
*Volgtijdelijkheid
2. Eindcompetenties (eindtermen) The goal of this course is twofold. A first part provides an overview of the concepts behind state-of-the-art information systems in transport and logistics and their supporting technologies (ICT). A second part shows how these concepts are applied in real-life systems in different parts of the supply chain. Students should be able to explain these principles and apply them to small case studies.
3. Inhoud
Information and communication technology (ICT) is becoming more and more crucial in modern logistics and transport. Accurate and real-time information is vital to support and optimize logistics processes. Sophisticated, up-to-date information systems can supply this information. They provide decision makers with timely and accurate information about their business processes. Since the mid-90’s, information systems have evolved very fast. The architecture of most systems is now built around a complex mix of databases, ERP-systems (such as SAP, Oracle and Peoplesoft), facilities for B2B- and B2C-communication, data warehouses and portals.
Part 1: Foundations, concepts and terminology in TLIS (a.o.): <!--[if !supportLists]-->- <!--[endif]-->databases <!--[if !supportLists]-->- <!--[endif]--> ERP-systems <!--[if !supportLists]-->- <!--[endif]--> Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) <!--[if !supportLists]-->- <!--[endif]--> Data exchange through XML and EDI-standards <!--[if !supportLists]-->- <!--[endif]--> Networks: Internet, Mobile networks (including security aspects) <!--[if !supportLists]-->- <!--[endif]-->… Part 2: Real-life applications The way in which the concepts of part 1 are applied in practice is explained and illustrated by guest lecturers from different stakeholders in the logistics process.
