1. Aanvangscompetenties

Bij aanvang van dit opleidingsonderdeel dient de student over de volgende competenties te beschikken:
Specifieke aanvangscompetenties voor dit opleidingonderdeel:
  • Elementary mathematical skills (arithmetic, linear algebra, ...)
  • Elementary knowledge on concepts such as: cost profit, productioncapacity


2. Eindcompetenties

To be able to:
  • translate an economic/management situation into a quantitative model
  • solve the proposed model with the appropriate technique
  • formulate pro's and cons of the used method(s)
  • determine the applicability of several techniques
  • interprete the results of the applied method in terms of the context




3. Inhoud

This course handles the use of quantitative techniques to solve real-life operations management problems. It starts from the view point of the user/decision maker. Different types of problems will be discussed, for which the following methods will be proposed:
  • Linear programming 
  • Integer programming 
  • Branch and bound techniques
  • Metaheuristics
