A general scientific background (biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics) at academic level is required.
2. Eindcompetenties
The objective of part A is to give an insight in the physicochemical methods which are used in treating several water systems. This course part focusses on physicochemical water treatment and sludge treatment. The practical part includes laboratory exercises and industrial site visits. In part B important environmental engineering processes are dealt with that rely on microbiology, in particular drinking water production and wastewater treatment. This is complemented with an introduction into genetic engineering applied on environmental aspects. The practical part consists of design calculations and process measurements. The objective of part C is to give the students an insight in existing policies at different levels, upcoming regulations and challenges for the future of wastewater treatment.
