2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes)

Students should be able to:
.. develop a management control system for a company in line with the characteristics, strategy and the mission of that company

. apply the most important techniques of strategic management accounting (Activity Based Management, Target Costing, Life Cycle Costing, Benchmarking, Value Chain Analysis) to real life examples




3. Course content
 The major part of the course focuses on the role of management control in a company. The students will learn about the different elements of management control systems (action control, personel control, results control, social control) and how they can be used in designing a management control system for a company which allows top management to evaluate whether or not the company is in line with its strategic objectives and which allows top management to evaluate the behaviour and efforts of the employees. Attention will also be paid to concepts of strategic management accounting: value chain analysis, benchmarking, strategic cost analysis.
