2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes) Scientific literature contains usually statistical analysis of research data. The aim of this course is to instruct the students how to interpret statistical analysis as well as how to perform statistical tests and to choose the proper test for a specific research question. Hereto, they will have to use SPSS, on of the most popular statistical packages for computers used among scientists.
3. Course content Quality control of data, construction of histograms and box plots to visualize data. Parametric test: Student t-test, ANOVA, single and multiple linear regression, correlation, discriminant analysis, reliability analysis. Non - parametric tests: Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, Kruskal Wallis, Chi square, Friedman, logistic regression, cluster analysis By means of a statistical decicion tree, the student is instructed when to use a specific test for a specific situation.
