2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes)
Students are expected to have a thorough and updated knowledge of social law. They should be able to expound and evaluate this subject matter and should be capable of analyzing and solving specific problem situations independently and in a scientifically sound manner.

3. Course content

The purpose of the course is to explain the importance of fundamental (social) rights at the various levels of formation and finding of law. Fundamental social and other rights are principally laid down in European and international treaties, ratified by Belgium. Article 23 of the Constitution also lists a series of fundamental rights. Therefore the lectures will be examining to what extent the Belgian legislator and regulator are bound by these fundamental rights and apply them to new rules of law. In addition, students will be given an overview of the ways in which fundamental social and other rights may affect private (labour) relations.
