2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes) To gain a basic insight into the legal framework of public and private maritime and transportation law, including international conventions and EU legislation.
3. Course content 1. maritime law: definition, sources, history, registration of ships, tonnage measurement, safety regulations, regime of ports and waterways, pilotage and towage, vessel traffic services, ships' crew, market regulation and competition law including shipping conferences, ownership of vessels, maritime liens and mortgages, liability of shipowners, charter parties, carriage of goods under bills of lading, transport intermediaries, general average, collision, salvage, legal procedures 2. contracts for the carriage of goods by inland barge, road, rail and air; multimodal transportation
