2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes)
- knowledge of econometric concepts used in general economics;
- to understand what econometric methods are needed to solve economic problems;
- to understand economic papers and articles with basic econometrics applications;
- to be able to apply basic econometric methods to economic problems;
- to be able to work with a specific econometric software package (Eviews)

1. What is econometrics about?
2. Ordinary least squares estimation
3. Deviations from the conditions for BLUE-estimators: missing variables, autocorrelation, heteroskedasticity, ARCH, instrumental variables estimation, selection of functional form,...
4. Qualitative variables: dummy variables, discrete choice models
5. Time series and dynamic specifications: spurious regressions, cointegration, ECM,...
6. Systems of equations
7. Introduction to forecasting
