1. Prerequisites *Algemene competenties French linguistics 2: internal history of the French language and Medieval French.

2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes) - Acquire insight into the particularities of the medieval French language. - Provide a scientific method to describe non-synchronic linguistic expressions. - Be able to describe a phenomenon in its diachronic perspective.
3. Course content The course consists of 3 parts: - a thorough analysis of a syntactic problem that is typical for medieval French - a presentation of a theoretical model to describe non-synchronic linguistic expressions. - a description of the diachronic perspective (comparison with Latin and contemporary French)
