- The bachelor can describe and interpret the main concepts, paradighms and research topics within the disciplines of sociology and economics, well situated in a scientific and multidisciplinary perspective
- The bachelor has knowledge of institutional frameworks and social structures; he/she knows the structure, the funtioning and the current problems of the welfare state and the economy and has insight in the processes of collective decision making and the political structures and systems (constitutional state, democracy) in which these processes take place.
- The bachelor is familiar with business concepts, organisational theories and analysis methods; he/she knows business production and logistical techniques and understands the policy supporting role of informationa science and technology in a company.
- The bachelor has knowledge of important basic insights from related disciplines in the humanities such as psychology and anthropology, (economical, political and social) history and law and is familiar with the philosophical approach of social, ethical and economical problems.
- The bachelor is able to integrate and compare concepts and perspectives of different disciplines, in particular of economics and sociology, from an interdisciplinary perspective.
- The bachelor is able to process scientific knowledge, in particular of economics and sociology, in policy-oriented context.
- The bachelor is able to use descriptive and explanatory statistical analysis techniques, econometric concepts and methods of quantitative and qualitative research. He/she is also familiar with electronic learning and research instruments.
- Based on his/her methodological training, the bachelor is able to understand scientific or policy-oriented research and to perform research him/herself with external coaching.
- The bachelor acquires a nnumber of important academic skills such as logical thinking, analytical thinking, the ability to argue, the ability to critically deal with a variety of traditional and modern sources (e.g. scientific literature, research reports, policy documents, databases, etc.) and reporting on an academic level.
- The bachelor develops the skills to communicate both orally and in writing in Dutch and in at least one foreign language (English, French, German, Spanish).
- The bachelor has the necessary skills to easily work together with others and to function well in a multidisciplinary cooperation.
- The bachelor has an internationally oriented attitude.
- The bachelor is open and tolerant towards diverse political, cultural and philophical convictions and has a social and ethical sense of responsibility.
