- The Master of Social and Economic Sciences knows the concepts and theories of the discipline-specific subjects in which he/she chooses to specialize and is able to describe the status of the scientific debate and the most recent developments (knowledge at intermediate level).
- The Master of Social and Economic Sciences is able to systematically collect and critically process sources and research literature on a specific social question from a multidisciplinary perspective.
- Based on his/her analytical insight and methodological training, the master is able to scientifically formulate a research question, independently or in a team, to draw up a research plan, to collect and process (empirical) data and to reach well-founded conclusions. He/she knows the possibilities and limitations of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- The Master of Social and Economic Sciences is able to critically evaluate the results of scientific research and to translate these into practical policy recommendations.
- The Master of Social and Economic Sciences further develops his/her academic core skills (such as independent analysis and synthesis, independent reasoning, evaluation and communication) and understands the importance of self-study and lifelong learning.
- The Master of Social and Economic Sciences is able to communicate effectively and to report orally and in writing, interpersonally as well as in groups.
- The Master of Social and Economic Sciences has an independent and critical attitude and understands in which circumstances it is important to think independently, rationally and interdisciplinary.
