Veterinary Medicine busies itself with topical issues. What are the most frequent diseases amongst pets? What are the most significant aspects of breeding? How does a cattle farmer keep his animals healthy and the milk production going? How does one prevent swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease epidemics? What is mad cow’s disease? What is necessary to guarantee the quality and safety of meat and dairy products? In the bachelor years the focus is on the theoretical basis of health. Clinical and practical aspects of the veterinarian’s job are explained. The master years are more clinical and function-oriented, in other words, the practical training to becoming a veterinarian. You can specialise in individually penned animals, or farm animals/veterinary public health or research. Every year consists of lectures, practical classes and demonstrations.

The programme leads to the position of an independent veterinarian, or a position in veterinary public health. It is a good basis for specific positions in businesses, with the government or for a career as a researcher in a broad scientific domain.
