2. Objectives (expected learning outcomes)
- knowledge of the history of the philosophy of religion
- insight in the basic concepts of the philosophy of religion
- skill to communicate this knowledge and these insights
3. Course content
Four phases are distinguished in the history of the philosophy of religion:
1. premodern (Anselm, Aquinas)
2. natural religion (deism)
3. pathology of religion (Hume etc)
4. description of the religious phenomenon (Wittgenstein)
The elaboration of each phase includes the close reading of texts.
