• should be enrolled for the programme in question under a diploma contract or under an exam contract to obtain a diploma
• should have taken all the exams that the programme encompasses
• should previously have registered for the programme with the examination board.

Direct: diploma of bachelor, master and licentiate in  agogics, administration science and public management, biochemistry and biotechnology, bio-engineering sciences, biology, biomedical sciences, biosciences, business studies, chemistry, communication studies, criminology, veterinary medicine, economic sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, physics, physics and astronomy, geography, medicine, geology, commercial sciences, information sciences industrial sciences, engineering sciences, logopaedics and audiology, environmental and prevention management, nautical sciences, education sciences, instructional and educational sciences, paedagogics, political sciences, product development, psychology, law, social and economic sciences, sociology, applied economic sciences, mathematics.
Diploma of professional bachelor of business management (option environmental management) and  agro-biotechnology and having successfully completed the bridging programme in environmental sciences.
 
All other training programmes: after approval of the application file from which appear previously acquired and proven competences in one of the above mentioned training programmes.

1. A Master of Environmental Science has the competency to recognize a (complex) environmental problem, to analyze it critically in all its aspects and to formulate a relevant definition of the problem. 
2. A Master of Environmental Science is able to situate environmental problems in the social (managerial, juridical, economical, technological) and scientific context. 
3. A Master of Environmental Science is able to efficiently find, unlock and process current information and documentary material on the environmental problem. 
4. A Master of Environmental Science  is able to formulate integrated proposals as a contribution to the solution ànd prevention of environmental problems. 
5. A Master of Environmental Science  is able to easily collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting: 
6. A Master of Environmental Science is able to report efficiently and for a target group, both orally and in writing. 
7. A Master of Environmental Science is able to critically analyse policy plans, management proposals and measures for implementation and is able to contribute to their set up.
8. A Master of Environmental Science  is able to develop and set up (environmental) research projects.

A student’s final result is a weighted average of the exam results the student has obtained for all the programme components of his/her training programme. In calculating the final result, the credits corresponding to the various programme components are used for weighting the results obtained for those components.

The final result is expressed as an integer out of 100.

A student whose final result is less than 50 out of 100 can never be declared successful.

A student is successful for the training programme if he/she has obtained credits for all the programme components in his/her training programme.
