3. Course content
The training in marine biology takes place at spring tide in September at Pas-de-Calais, France. The extreme low neap tides during this events allows for deep penetration into the tidal zone to collect and determine specimens. We take a look at the unique geological situation of the area and go to protected and unprotected sand and rock coastal areas. We learn about the tides and the tidal areas and the specific niches these provide to animals and plants. The training includes a morphological systematic part, and an ecophysiological part. The training can also include a project on physiology and/or ecology of marine organisms.
