Mathematics lies at the basis of almost every fundamental science and thereby also for practically all technological and applied scientific aspects of our society. Laws of physics, processes in chemistry, models in biology, statistical analysis, these are all expressed in a mathematical language, using mathematical methods and models. It is the mathematician’s task to use these methods and models where necessary, and to develop them further. In the bachelor programme Mathematics the main subjects are algebra, analysis, geometry and applied mathematics. Secondary subjects include informatics, physics, fundamental mathematics, financial mathematics. The programme contains several general subjects and offers a wide variety of elective subjects.
