1. Prerequisites

At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:
An active knowlegde of :
  • Dutch
  • English
A passive knowledge of :
  • French
  • General knowledge of the use of a PC and the Internet
Specific prerequisites for this course:

Galenic pharmacy and Biopharmacy I and II
Pharmacology and applied pharmacokinetics


2. Learning outcomes


(1) knowledge of current GMP, GPP and quality assurance in industry and public pharmacy
(2) to be able to organise a quality system in a public pharmacy
(3) to be able to develop SOP (standard operating procedure) for several dosage forms prepared in a public pharmacy

(4) integration of knowledge of several disciplines (Pharmaceutics, Biopharmacy, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry) during the "Pharmacy game"




3. Course contents

(1) quality assurance and systems used in industry, hospital and public pharmacy

(2) pharmaceutical care and quality of life

(3) GMP in industry and GPP rules in public pharmacy

(4) quality assurance of preparations made in a public pharmacy (SOP, protocol)

(5) requirements about organization, personel, buildings, facilities and equipment
