In the first year you can choose from a wide variety of subjects from the domain of Physics as well as from other exact science disciplines. In the third year you will be able to choose one of three modules that are compatible with sub-disciplines in physics. These elective subjects can also be replaced by a minor in another discipline, such as Biochemistry, Informatics or Mathematics. If you do choose a minor, you will follow several subjects from that other discipline for three years, together with the students from that discipline. In the Master programme you can choose from one of these options: Research, Education or Management. These tie in with different employment possibilities in education or in industry. These options are available in the form of modules. There are several other modules besides that of Education and Management that are compatible with the research options of the Department of Physics.

The programme to become a physicist is focused on problem solving. Rather than to train you for a job, it offers scope for development in education, research as well as in business. Job opportunities in education are practically guaranteed. Most physicists are active in scientific research, be it for a short period (PhD) or to further their academic careers. From the corporate world there is a constant demand for physicists. There are many sectors that our graduates end up in.
