1. Prerequisites
At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences: An active knowlegde of :The course is taught in Spanish A passive knowledge of :Some articles are in French or English - General knowledge of the use of a PC and the Internet
Specific prerequisites for this course: Proficiency Spanish (written , oral, comprehension, reading).
2. Learning outcomes
The student will realize how history, culture and identity are interrelated concepts in Spanish American world. The student will be able to comment on past and present political and cultural problems related to the Spanish American world.
3. Course contents
Two important historical moments (Discovery and Independence) are the starting point to study some basic problems concerning the Spanish American World (colonialism, the other, multiculturality, ...). The actual news serves to treat another series of important issues in the Spanish American world (indigenismo, relation with the USA, popular culture, relation with the West, icons and cults, ...)
