At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:
Specific prerequisites for this course:
A good knowledge of French, and if possible of the history of French Literature.
2. Learning outcomes
Close reading of French literary texts of the XIXth and XXth century; knowlegde of the mythologies of travel literature in the XIXth and XXth century in France.
3. Course contents
Careful reading of Gérard de Nerval's Voyage en Orient, Les filles du feu and Les Chimères, and of Nicolas Bouvier's L'usage du monde. Evolution of the mythology of travel in the XIXth and XXth century.
