1. Prerequisites
At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:

2. Learning outcomes
Insight into the evolution of Dutch literature from 1914 onwards. To be able to situate important authors and works and to be able to explain the texts read during the course.
3. Course contents
A framework of reference is presented in order to integrate the most diverse data with respect to Dutch literature from 1914 onwards. Central topics are the development of poetry and prose in the Netherlands and Flanders as well as the changes in literary life, sociology, ideology, poetics and the institutions. This course wants to stimulate reading. Therefore, reading important novels and poems from the mentioned period is an essential part of the course.

Georges Wildemeersch, Geschiedenis van de Nederlandse letterkunde 3. Syllabus, Universitas, Antwerp, 2008. The books to be read will be indicated at the start of the course.
