Course details 2012-2013

Profile of the programme
Masters ‘Social Work’ are required to have an open mind and master a wide range of solutions and methodologies.  This will enable them to work in an organisation or service in a policy-preparing and supporting capacity.  The strength and expertise of a master in Social Work lies in that he or she can link a broad theoretical insight into the relationship between the individual and society, to the day-to-day practicalities of aid and services. He or she acquires knowledge on social-agogic processes, organisational skills, (strategic) planning, methodology development and implementation.  He or she relies on scientific insights and methods from (applied) scientific research.  He or she is able to develop a point of view, and to work out and expand upon methods.  In addition, he or she knows how to pass this on to the field workers in the organisation.
Occupational profiles of graduates
Graduates can find work in several types of positions in several areas of employment.  The world of welfare organisations is very diverse.  Graduates end up in the welfare sector, or with local or regional committees.  With their combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills they help to shape policy and are responsible for the execution of it, in policy preparing or supportive positions.
