Course details 2012-2013

Profile of the programme
The University of Antwerp offers a unique course in Flanders. Whilst most bachelor courses are folding back into their own disciplines, the bachelor course Socio-Economic Science radically chooses the opposite.  In the space of three years you will learn how to look at our society in different ways from an economical and a sociological point of view.  Our society is in need of young people capable of mapping out the future from a combination of different vantage points.  Naturally, competence is necessary, but the best social decisions must take several criteria into account.  A basic training combining sociology and economics is certainly an advantage in this process.  You will quickly see how these two complement one another.  You may sometimes also wrestle with the contradictions that are unavoidable in the quest for diversity.
Occupational profiles of graduates
In your future career, you will be the ideal ‘go-between’ between specialised experts and policymakers, or better yet, you yourself will be making decisions from a broad knowledge based on scientific expertise.
