Intro
Matlab offers a versatile software environment for scientific computing, data analysis, algorithm development and visualization. Moreover, it offers a vast amount of toolboxes, which makes it easier to use Matlab in all kind of different disciplines. This course offers an introduction to Matlab and some of its toolboxes. The focus lies on programming in Matlab, but also topics like optimization and simulation will be discussed.
Course contentsThe course consists of the following parts:
- Basic Matlab operations
- Graphic capabilities
- Programming in Matlab
- Optimization using the optimization toolboxes
- Simulation using the ODE suite
Course formLectures on the backgrounds and practical sessions in which exercises have to be solved. Target audience and prerequisitesThe course is aimed at pre- and post doctoral researchers who have a basic mathematical knowledge. Some basic understanding of programming is useful but not required.
