Travel:

Coming by plane, Brussels airport (“ Brussel Nat. Luchthaven”, in Dutch) is the nearest international airport, about one hour away from Antwerp. There is a regular shuttle bus bringing you to the heart of the City of Antwerp. There is also a direct train connection (twice an hour) between Brussels Airport and Antwerp Central Station. Alternatively you can fly to Amsterdam international airport (“Airport Schiphol”, in Dutch) where a high speed train brings you in 1,5 hour to the central train station in Antwerp ("Antwerpen Centraal", in Dutch).

For those arriving by bus or train, we refer you to the website of the Belgian railways, where you can find national and international train connections to and from Antwerp.

In Antwerp:

When you take the train or the shuttle bus from Brussels airport, you arrive in the close vicinity of the central train station (Antwerpen centraal). It is a 15 min. walk to the campus of the University of Antwerp.

If you prefer to take the tram, please download the map with the tram lines. The central train station is indicated with a “B” on the map with tram lines (somewhere in the middle of the map).

To take the tram:
  • You can take tram n°10 or  n°11 (direction Melkmarkt) at tram station “Astrid”. The tram station is situated at the other side of the square “Koningin Astrid plein”.
  • Leave the tram at tram station “Sint Jacob”. On the map you can see that the tram line makes a loop in the city centre; the second “Sint Jacob” stop is closest to the campus of the University (but not a lot).
On the street plan of the city centre, you can vaguely find the tram stops too. The first “Sint Jacob” stop is on “Lange Nieuwstraat” the second “Sint Jacob” stop is on “Kipdorp”.
