Class 1 Peter Beyer
International Migration and the (Re)construction of Religions

Among its many consequences, the increased, even unprecedented, transnational migration of the latter third of the 20th century is having the effect of de-centring the modern constructed religion as concerns authority, authenticity, demographics, and types of religious collectivities. This class explores some of the details of these transformations, using particular examples drawn from a variety of religions.
