Prof. Dr. Dirk Vanheule holds law degrees from the universities of Ghent (LL.M. 1989), Toronto (LL.M. 1991) and Antwerp (Dr.iur. 2001) His teaching and research interests include legal methodology, constitutional law, administrative law and migration and asylum law on which he has (co-)authored numerous national and international publications.

He is member of the Ghent Bar, practising in the field of administrative, constitutional and immigration law. He is also chairman of the Centre for Migration and Intercultural Studies at the University of Antwerp. He has been appointed as dean at the Law Faculty of the University of Antwerp in October 2012.
