Prof. Dr. Herwig Verschueren
teaches International and European Labour and Social Security Law at the University of Antwerp and the University of Brussels. He studied law and philosophy at the University of Leuven (Belgium) and the University of Paris and holds a PhD from the University of Leuven.
From 1992 to 2004, he was a civil servant at the European Commission (Brussels), working in the field of free movement of workers and the co-ordination of social security schemes.
He is the author and co-author of books, articles end reports on the legal position of aliens and on EC law related to cross-border workers. He has published extensively in journals such as the Common Market Law Review,theEuropean Journal of Social Security, the European Journal for Migration and Law, and the International Journal for Labour Law and Industrial Relations. He is currently editor in chief of the Tijdschrift voor Vreemdelingenrecht (Journal for Aliens law - Belgium) and member of the editorial board of the European Journal of Social Security and the Revue belge de sécurité sociale.
