Dr. Birgit HOUBEN is als coördinator kwaliteitszorg en excellentie in onderzoek in het bijzonder belast met de organisatie van de disciplinegewijze kwaliteitzorg onderzoek (onderzoeksvisitaties), de opvolging van de Methusalem-financiering en de opvolging van de Interuniversitaire AttractiePolen (IUAP). In het kader van haar functie staat zij ook in voor bibliometrische profielbepalingen en studie- en benchmarkingopdrachten in het algemeen.

Dr. Birgit HOUBEN, research excellence and quality assurance coordinator, is entrusted with the organization of the discipline-based research quality assurance (research assessment exercises) and maintains the Methusalem and Interuniversity Poles of Attraction (IUAP) files. Among her further duties are bibliometric profile assessments and study and benchmarking assignments.

Birgit studeerde geschiedenis aan de UA (1999-2001) en aan de UGent (2002-2004). In 2009 behaalde ze haar doctoraat in de geschiedenis met als titel “Wisselende gedaanten. Het hof en de hofhouding van de landvoogden Isabella Clara Eugenia (1621-1633) en de kardinaal-infant don Fernando van Oostenrijk (1634-1641) te Brussel”.

Daarna werkte ze enkele maanden als redacteur en onderzoeker bij het Instituut voor Nederlandse Geschiedenis in Den Haag. In 2010 ging ze aan de slag bij het Departement Onderzoek van de UA.

Birgit studied history at the UA (1999-2001) and the UGhent (2002-2004). In 2009 she received her doctoral title for her dissertation “Changing formats. The court and the household of the governors-general Isabella Clara Eugenia (1621-1633) and the cardinal-infant don Fernando of Austria (1634-1641) in Brussels”.

Afterwards, she worked as an editor and researcher at the Institute of Netherlands History in The Hague. In 2010 she joined the Department of Research at the UA.
