I am currently employed as a postdoctoral fellow at the Food Policy Research Institute in the Kampala office. I teach "working with data", "time series analysis" and the "cross section and panel data analysis" at the Insitute of Development Policy and Management (IDPM) of the University of Antwerp (UA). I obtained my PhD at the Economics Department of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuvenunder the auspices of Jo Swinnen and my co-promotors were Danny Cassimon, who is here at IOB and Stefan Dercon of the development economics research group at the University of Oxford.
My main research interest lies in the study of how semi-commercial farmers are connected to the wider market system. For instance, my recent work looks at maize market participation in Tanzania. Other factors I am currently working on is the effect of price information and price expectations on the bargaining process between farmer and middlemen. Furthermore, I am also interested on how markets are connected to one another. Other projects I am involved with have to do with poverty measurement and poverty traps. Furthermore, I also write on issues related to aid effectiveness and financial market integration. More information on my research in progress can be found on the research page of this site.
