Bios in English:
Genserik Reniers obtained a Master's degree in chemical engineering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and received his PhD in Applied Economic Sciences from the University of Antwerp. He lectures amongst others in chemistry, organic chemistry, chemical process technology, and Technological Risk Management at the University of Antwerp (Antwerp, Belgium). He is also visiting professor Security Management at the Antwerp Management School, Risk Management at ITMMA, and Risk Analysis in a Postgraduate Disaster Management at VESTA. At the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel in Brussels he lectures, amongst others, in prevention management, advanced occupational health and safety management and chemical processes/unit operations. He is also appointed as a professor at the Master of Safety Sciences at the University of Antwerp, Faculty of Law. His main research interests concern the collaboration surrounding safety and security topics and socio-economic optimization within the chemical industry. He coordinates the Antwerp Research Group on Safety and Security, unifying multi-disciplinary safety and security research at the University of Antwerp. He has extensive experience in leading research projects funded both by the Belgian government and the chemical industry.

Genserik Reniers
is als burgerlijk scheikundig ingenieur en doctor in de Toegepaste Economische Wetenschappen verbonden aan de Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB). Hij doceert er ondermeer Welzijns- en preventiemanagement, Advanced Occupational Health and Safety Management, en Industriële processen. Aan de Universiteit Antwerpen (UA) doceert hij o.m. Algemene Chemie, Organische Chemie, en Procestechnologie. Hij is eveneens aangesteld als professor aan de Master in de Veiligheidswetenschappen aan de Universiteit Antwerpen, faculteit Rechten. Daarnaast is hij eveneens gastdocent Security Management aan de Antwerpse Management School (AMS), geeft hij Risicomanagement aan ITMMA te Antwerpen en verzorgt hij lessen Risicoanalyse aan VESTA in de postacademische vorming Rampenmanagement. Zijn belangrijkste onderzoeksinteresses gaan uit naar veiligheid en beveiliging in de chemische industrie en alle ermee gepaard gaande socio-economische optimalisaties. Hij coördineert de onderzoeksgroep ARGoSS (Antwerp Research Group on Safety and Security) aan de UA, die multidisciplinaire studies naar veiligheid en beveiliging uitvoert. Hij heeft uitgebreide ervaring met onderzoeksprojecten zowel uitgaande van de Belgische en Vlaamse overheid als op vraag van de chemische industriële sector.
