Guido Marnef is hoogleraar bij het Departement Geschiedenis en verbonden aan het Centrum voor Stadsgeschiedenis. Zijn onderzoek focust op de thematiek van Opstand en Reformatie in de Lage Landen, de katholieke Reformatie en vroegmoderne stedelijke cultuur (met een speciale aandacht voor rederijkersliteratuur en de rol van gedrukte, handgeschreven en orale media). Hij is redactielid van het Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis, van Trajecta. Religie, cultuur en samenleving in de Nederlanden, en van Ons Geestelijk Erf. Als Referent Niederlände schrijft hij jaarlijks ook een literatuuroverzicht voor het Beiheft van het Archiv für Reformationsgeschichte. Guido Marnef is voorzitter van de Stichting Colloquium de Brabantse Stad en lid van de Provinciale Commissie voor Geschiedenis en Volkskunde van de Provincie Antwerpen. In 1995 was hij member aan de School of Historical Studies van het Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, USA, en in 2006-2007 fellow aan het Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in Wassenaar. Van januari tot juni 2011 verblijft hij als fellow aan het VLAC van de Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van België te Brussel. Hij zal er werken aan een boek over de 'Calvinistische Republiek' te Antwerpen (1577-1585). Guido Marnef is professor of early modern history and a member of the Center for Urban History. His research focuses on Reformation and Revolt in the Low Countries, the Catholic Reformation and early modern urban culture (with a special interest in the literature of the rhetoricians and the role of printed, hand written and oral media). He is a member of the editiorial board of three journals: Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis, Trajecta. Religie, cultuur en samenleving in de Nederlanden, and Ons Geestelijk Erf. As Referent Niederlände he contributes to the annual literature review of the Archive for Reformation History. Guido Marnef is the president of the "Stichting Colloquium de Brabantse Stad" and a member of the Committee for History and Ethnology of the Province of Antwerp. In 1995 he was a member at the School of Historical Studies of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, USA, and in 2006-2007 a fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study at Wassenaar. From January until June 2011, he is a fellow at the Flemish Academic Center of the Royal Flemish Academy (Brussels), and will work on a book project about the 'Calvinist Republic' in Antwerp (1577-1585).
