Graduated at the University of Antwerp as Master in Computer Science, Jonas Buys joined the Performance Analysis of Telecommunication Systems (PATS) research group at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in October 2007 in preparation of a PhD degree under the supervision of dr. Vincenzo De Florio.
His research focuses on Business Process Re-engineering leveraging Autonomic Service-Oriented Computing:
-
application-level fault tolerance (ALFT) and
service resiliency
in SOAs: enabling dynamic recovery at runtime for crashing services (NVP, RB, AOP...)
-
autonomic computing: self-healing, self-configuring, self-optimizing and self-protecting services
-
semantic web services (SAWSDL, WSMO, OWL-S...)
-
dynamic reconfiguration
-
recovery-oriented computing
-
fault detection: is a service crashing or is it merely performing badly due to excessive consumer load?
- Administration platforms for the management of services, support for maintenance and enforcement of policies
-
service granularity: constructing an ideal set of services at analysis level (BPM, BPR, DEMO)
-
human interaction in BPEL workflows: patterns (DEMO, WS-HT, WS-BPEL4People)
-
business-IT alignment
-
technologies for distributed software such as J2EE and .NET
-
transformation of legacy software assets to SOA: strategic program-based adoption model
-
XML-based WS-* specifications (WSDL, SOAP, WS-Addressing, WSDM (MUWS, MOWS, WS-RMD, WSRF), WS-Eventing, WS-Notification, WS-Policy...)
-
J2EE implementation technologies: Apache MUSE, Axis2, Neethi.
