Sinds september 2011:

Senior onderzoeker bij TIER (Universiteit Maastricht), geassocieerd lid van het Centrum voor Sociaal Beleid, vrij medewerker van de Universiteit Antwerpen (departement Sociologie)

Onderzoeksinteresses:

(a) de combinatie arbeid en gezin (feiten en beleid), kinderen (welzijn, zorg en beleid), arbeidseconomie, gezinssociologie en huishoudmodellen

(b) sociale economie, quasi-markten, omgaan met externaliteiten en optimale subsidiëring

(c) de rol van onderwijs in het sociaal beleid, effectiviteit van onderwijs

Formerly: Senior research fellow of the Herman Deleeck Centre for Social Policy (faculty of Political and Social Sciences), co-ordinator of the research group on family and care

Currently: Associate professor at TIER (Maastricht University), associate member of the Centre for Social Policy and the department of Sociology of the University of Antwerp

Research interests:

• labour economics, household modelling and family sociology, with a particular interest in the reconciliation of work and family life and the well-being of children (facts, theory and policy)
• the social economy, quasi-markets, policy responses to externalities and "optimal subsidies"
• education as a social policy tool, educational effectiveness, evaluation studies
